Planet Dog
Patented Orbee-Tuff material, made in the USA, non-toxic, and 100% recyclable, and a mint scent dogs (and you) love. What more could you want? Planet Dog makes some of the best chew toys (and many other great products) in the world, and they do it with a heart. They use their leftover material to produce special edition, recycled toys, and 2% of their proceeds on every sale (100% on select items) go to the Planet Dog Foundation--their flagship charity which supports working/service dogs.
Their products generate enough excitement on their own, but when you realize what kind of company Planet Dog is, buying their stuff feels that much better. And if you still don’t believe these toys are tough, check out this little nugget from the company website:
“In the late summer of 2003, we got a letter from a customer who had just mowed over an Orbee with his John Deere. It remained 100% in tact. That customer happened to write for Parade magazine and in the November edition he described the Orbee as ‘the world's best dog ball.’ We completely agree.”
An important note: We just finished touting the incredible quality and toughness of Planet Dog toys, and you’re going to read about a few more great brands of tough toys below, but please take note of the following information from Planet Dog, as well as future updates in our Learning Center, in order that you may get the most out of your toy purchases, and your dog gets maximum fun! Most notable is how important supervision is when regarding your pet's play. Thank you for being the best pet owners in Mid-Michigan.
Tuffy’s
They call them the “world’s ‘tuff’est soft dog toy.” Aside from the fact that Tuffy’s Pet Toys are not hard rubber, there’s really nothing soft about them. The first layer is soft fleece - talk about a wolf in sheep’s clothing. Layer number two? 600 denier nylon. Then comes a third layer of PVC (yeah the plastic stuff), and then another layer of 600 D nylon. The whole thing is assembled with a whopping seven seams. The first four hold the toy together, which are covered by a layer of nylon for protection, and then another three seams are added to finish the job.
And since it’s not a hard rubber toy, they can include squeakers, which drive your dog crazy, but are also pleasantly muted by all the protection that covers them, including a special pouch around each squeaker to keep them away from dogs who can actually get there. Tuffy’s also provides their own “Tuff Scale”, which goes from 1 to 10.
The company states that, in the realm of soft/plush toys, 4 is where all other toys end, and Tuffy’s begin--therefore you won’t find a Tuffy’s toy rated lower than 5. As if that weren’t enough, the special collectors’ dinosaurs (absolutely HUGE toys), and other smaller animal-shaped toys make this line of toys some of the most fun you’ll ever see.

Ruff Dawg
High-quality rubber, and made in the USA, Ruff Dawg toys are a fan favorite at Joey’s. The sticks, twigs, and rocks have a great look in ultra-cool colors. Angel, a golden retriever, always brings her Ruff Dawg Stick with her to the store on all her return trips - always happy to carry it around, even when she’s getting new stuff from her mom. For your hard-working dogs,
there’s always the tool kit, which even includes a toolbox to stow away this colorful set of toolshaped toys. Go ahead, put your little carpenter’s name on it.
